There are two flight simulators that I really recommend. The realflight (it's up to G4.5 now but anything above G3 are great). Also the Phoenix RC.
The two above are more expensive than others on the market but the quality is absolutely great.
As to how important flight sims are I think they're absolutely vital. As I've just said in the last post that crashes are inevitable and even more so when you're starting out. So a simulator is something that will get up to speed really quickly.
Also, a flight sim will practically pay for its self the very first time you crash (in the sim).

Hi Panny,
I agree with Camoflight regarding the use of a good simulator, however apart from the water rendering, I find that price for price "TrueFlight" is hard to beat at less than $40. You do have to supply your own controller, but I find that using your own TX with the sim is really good pratice.
