Hello all you helicopter pilots with Flight simulators.
I'm looking for advice what the best choice of a helicopter flight simulator
would be? I think it would be worth having one, weather here still fairly windy and summer is short.
Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

You'll get lots of other opinions - my money's on ClearView, support is second to none and everything is developing all the time. Checkout the ClearView forum here.
FMS on the other hand is free rubbish, don't touch it, there are other free sims, I consider the best of the freebies to be HeliSimRC, but it's not a patch on ClearView.

Your thinking cannot be faulted. They are extremely helpful! It just comes down to what you want in one, and...how much you want to spend.
Here is a good little thread on the top ones, including Clearview, which i have and is outstanding for what I need! Since this thread does not say much about it, I will say a word..or 2...CV is very cheap in price, one time payment, as opposed to constantly paying for upgrades on the other 2, well, not entirely sure about Phoenix...but, I get to use my own TX, and the physics are spot on compared to my real RC helis, the grafix are pretty nice too. Upgrades are free, I think RF is over rated and over priced, (IMO!!) Phoenix is cheaper but....still too much for what it is intended to do, ClearView does all that I need, to teach me the muscle memory I need to do new things and to react for "just in case". Just remember, a Sim is not going to teach you to fly.

My vote is with HeliSimRC .....
Purely because I hate spending money and default heli is a Trex 450 .......
FMS ... as another says is total rubbish and I am constantly amazed at how many times it gets advised to newbies ...
FMS ....... if model is on ground and you give UP elevator ... tail disappears into the ground ..... yes it gets swallowed up.
FMS ...... sounds are as if they are being blown bubbles out of a bowl of water ...... and often crash or don't sound at all.
FMS ........ landing is an art in itself .... if you can land in FMS correctly - I say you aint gonna do it with a real model !!
I had Clearview as a trial and YES ... it's very very good but at end of day graphics is not what I'm paying for .. I'm paying for simulator to perform ......... HeliSimRC does that and free. It will take any Tx that can be plugged into a PC ... or a dedicated USB Tx as I was supplied with RC Planemaster .........
I am not convinced that so much money has to be spent on this ...

I can't comment on any of the others, but personally I use RealFlight.
The graphics/physics are great, the customization options are vast, and it has some solid online multiplayer; including combat, contests, and even just fun-fly's.
Whichever you decide, definitely get one. It will save you so much money in the long run.

Thanks Nick_
I will check the real flight sim site to see how much it costs. Clearview
sounds good also. I agree I hade a flight sim for planes many many years ago and it got me started to get the feel for it on planes and did not have much problems because of that, It also had Helicopter sim as well but could never get the copter to fly on sim. It would be nice to be able to fly with someone together on line. Thanks for the info friend.

Thanks all for the help.
Will order the CV and Controll box in about a week. Trial period has run out.
Could not fly much using only keyboard. I'm impressed with the great support fom CV, and by the way I'm slowly getting some controll of Blade120SR, wind improved this evening so took it for a spin. So far no broken parts.

Yeah the whole point of a sim is to help build muscle memory in relation to a transmitter. The most training with a keyboard is going to help you is maybe with orientation. Get a USB Tx or a USB adapter for your real Tx as soon as you can.
That's good to hear about your 120 SR, keep it up!

The Dynam USB Tx is the one usually rebranded by many other Sim people for supply with their gear ... ie Reality Craft Sims give it out with their label.
I have one via the RC Planemaster and I find it very good, even though it has no dual-rates ... it's a plain 5 ch. Tx.
It does have an extra in form of the Idle Up / Gyro switch and also a rotary knob to alter pitch curve gradient ....
It's worth the $15 or so and saves fiddling about with own Tx .. but at end of day - best is to couple up your real flying Tx so you practice with the one you will use in the field. Heli's are not as forgiving as fixed wing and familiarity with controller is part of the battle.
The Pro Flight Simulator Game is a good choice for who is looking for an alternative for Pilot Training or seeking the pleasure of a realistic flight:
