I have a Syma SO32...
Flew very good for about 8 to 10 times, got 8 minutes of fly time.
THEN after charging it, went to take off, stayed up about 5 to 10 seconds then huge loss of power and could barely hover.
I thought maybe it was due to improper battery use. I read later that these LiPo batteries are not suppose to be totally drained, I would let rotor rotate until it stopped, then I would hook it right up to the charger.
I later read that you should not drain and you should let cool first before charging.
So I thought maybe I ruined the battery. I got a new one. Installed it and charged it. Not much improvement.
The second time I tried charging the new battery I noticed that the charger light came on after only 5 minutes of being on the charger.
This is the type of charger that the light is off until it gets a full charge. When I was getting the 8 to 10 minutes of flight the light would not come on until after 60 to 80 minutes.
Now it comes on after 5 minutes.
Any opinions? Defective charger? Circuit board? Suggestions?

Freestyl, can you check the voltage of your battery when the charger indicates full? You don't say how many cells or what nominal voltage the battery has, but it should be between 4.1~4.2V/cell when fully charged. If it drops below 3V/cell then it is unlikely to ever work again and may burn if you try to charge it.

Once we know this we can help more, as it is it could be many things.

Tom.

What kind of charger do you have. If it's charged with AA batteries through the TX'r then your AA batteries may be weak?

replace them also.

You definitely do not want to drain a LiPo until it's flat dead. Discharge to only 80 percent dead.
Have you checked over the heli to be sure everything is OK? Could be something is binding, causing a power drain.
